Assessment for New Arrival Disabilities HHs and Their Families in Kahda District, in Mogadishu-Somalia.
The Center for Disabilities and Patients (CDP) is proud to announce the establishment of a new camp in Kahda District, designed to support newly displaced persons with disabilities and their families. This dedicated facility provides a safe and accessible environment, offering essential services and resources tailored to the needs of individuals with disabilities who have recently faced the challenges of displacement.
To better understand and meet the needs of these families, CDP recently conducted a comprehensive assessment of 120 households (HHs) within the camp. This assessment focused on several key areas:
- Health and Medical Needs: Evaluating current medical conditions, availability of mobility aids, and access to necessary treatments and medications to ensure that all residents receive adequate healthcare support.
- Living Conditions and Accessibility: Assessing the safety and suitability of shelter facilities, including accessibility for wheelchair users and other mobility aids, to create a comfortable and secure living space for each family.
- Educational Needs: Reviewing the availability of inclusive education opportunities for children and adults with disabilities, including specialized resources and support to ensure everyone has access to learning.
- Nutritional and Food Security: Examining food availability, nutritional quality, and meal planning to address potential deficiencies and maintain healthy diets for all household members.
- Access to Social and Support Services: Identifying the need for social support networks, including counseling, community activities, and specialized services that promote mental health and well-being.
- Economic and Livelihood Opportunities: Understanding household financial stability, including income sources, employment opportunities, and access to financial assistance programs to empower families toward self-sufficiency.
This assessment allows CDP to prioritize services and resources, ensuring that each family receives personalized support tailored to their unique circumstances. The new camp in Kahda District is a crucial step forward in fostering a resilient, inclusive environment for families to rebuild and thrive. CDP remains dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive support, creating a foundation of hope and empowerment for displaced persons with disabilities.
