Supporting New Arrivals: Registration Process for IDPs with Disabilities in Mogadishu Camps
On October 9, 2024, the Center for Disabilities and Patients(CDP) conducted a vital registration drive for newly arrived internally displaced persons (IDPs) with disabilities in Mogadishu. With the recent surge in displacement due to conflict, drought, and instability in the region, the center recorded 120 new arrivals with disabilities, each facing urgent needs and unique challenges.
This registration initiative, conducted in collaboration with local authorities and international partners, aims to provide these vulnerable individuals with access to essential resources, such as specialized healthcare, accessible shelter, food, and psychological support. By collecting information on family size, health status, and specific needs, the Center for Disabilities and Patients can tailor assistance to each individual, ensuring they receive adequate care and resources.
The growing number of IDPs with disabilities in Mogadishu’s camps emphasizes the need for inclusive facilities and specialized services. The Center for Disabilities and Patients remains committed to improving service delivery, enhancing accountability, and creating a safe, dignified environment for all displaced individuals. This registration drive marks a significant step toward ensuring that the needs of people with disabilities are met and respected in Kahda and Deynile Districts in Mogadishu’s IDP camps.
